Content Preferences—What Would You Like?

Firstly, I want to give a gigantic THANK YOU to everyone who has downloaded the V0.4 demo of On Your Day Off! I'm blown away and really touched by how many of you have been following and wanting to play this game, and it's putting a huge smile on my face to see how far this project has spread. I have another huge THANK YOU for all the folks who have purchased/donated towards On Your Day Off; your financial support means a ton and is going towards the art and development for this game, so thank you for pitching in whatever you can!

And now, for the meat and potatoes of this post, I  want to give a special THANK YOU to everyone who has provided feedback and suggestions for improvement! You're  having a direct impact on the content and experience of On Your Day Off, and we can't make this a better game without you, so thanks a ton for your input so far! And on the subject of your feedback, a repeated suggestion that I'd like to get more insights on is the concept of setting content preferences.

A few folks have highlighted some topics/kinks in the game that they'd like to be able to turn off so they don't have to worry about them in the game; this is a feature that I think would be cool to develop, so the game can have its more "spicy" elements while also enabling a more "vanilla" experience (for lack of better terms). But before moving forward on development and figuring out how these content preferences would impact the content of the game, I wanted to get some more thoughts/input from you all, specifically on the following questions:

  • Watersports, mentions of snuff (there are no actual depictions of it in the game, it's just a topic that's referred to in dialogue), and permanent vore/implied digestion have been highlighted as "spicy" topics to be disabled/enabled, but are there any other topics that you'd want to add to this list? E.g., non-consensual, castration/penectomy, cock-vore, you can only bottom/you can only top, turn off all sexual encounters, etc.
  • In some cases, the suggested content settings can be accommodated with minor adjustments to the written and visual content; in other cases, entire routes/significant portions of those routes would be disabled.  Would it be acceptable to you as a player to have those routes disabled entirely?
  • For now, I'm considering implementing a content settings screen to appear at the beginning of each play-through (similar to the initial landing screen where you can enter a custom name for the player character). Would this be acceptable, or would you prefer having some kind of content preferences screen directly accessible from the main menu that you can set before starting the game?

I'm sure I'll have more questions as I dig into this feature further, but these are my initial thoughts, and I'd love to hear your constructive input on them, as well as anything else that comes to mind for you on this topic.

Thank you all so much!

Having flags or warnings at the start of paths to warn folks of impending spiciness is definitely a good plan, with the possibility of disabling them for the truly adventurous.

I'd personally like to see more vore content, definitely CV would be right up my personal alley. Consensual BDSM route somewhere would also be welcome.

TF content maybe? There's a  lot of things that can be covered.~

I'd say the most important one to have as a filter would be the castration, especially if that's part of Jesse's route

It is good to have as much content as possible. Beyond that, it would be good to have more cuteness as well as cuteness enhancing paw beans.

As for encounters, it is good to always have an option for the player to bottom.

Beyond that, I wish there were options for anthro characters to not have human penises.

I agree with this a lot, knotting is hot as hell

i agree with the dicks. i like anthros with more species-appropriate dicks,  not to say human dicks are bad or anything just always look off on anthros

Hard agree. It just looks so.. out of place in some cases.

a decent middle road would be having "flags" which warn the player if the direction they are heading in contains hardcore content, all i personally care about is that we get plenty of options to top

O jogo terá novos personagens nas futuras atualizações

Filter sounds good, but limit it to minor tweaks and alterations. If implementing a content filter means significantly compromising a route to accommodate, it would be better to just disable that particular route. It would be a shame to undermine an intended story in an attempt to please everyone.

If I lose out on 25% of routes because of my kink preferences that sounds fine. I'd rather that than have 100% bland stories.

Being able to disable content I don't want to see would be amazing!

Wouldn't it be better set up a poll for something like this? I like the spice; mutilation/gore just aren't my cup of tea, so if I could still play through scenes without losing interest I'd guess that could be cool.
